Research and Planning Evaluation Question 7

The layout of my music magazine, is much better than the college magazine. This is because on the music magazine I have used guide lines, however on the college magazine I didn't use any. The text is scattered around the image on the college magazine, and on my music magazine I have placed them on the left side to make it more easy to read.

The text on the college magazine does not look very appealing as the cover lines are everywhere and on the music one its more positioned.The music magazine is more brighter in terms of the colours that I have used and it suits the pop genre. The clothes on my model for the college magazine don't look like I put thought into it, as much as I did for the music magazine.

The photograph on the music magazine is much more, clear and professional as it was taken using a SLR camera and also was taken outside with natural lighting, however the one in the college magazine, was taken inside, and I used a digital camera to take this. The music magazine image, is a medium shot, and It enables the audience to see more of the model, however the college magazine, I have used a mid shot. In terms of the Editing, I have used photo shop for both, but the college one was done in a rush and really didn't concentrate on editing it properly, as I have put a lot of effort into editing the music magazine one. Overall my music magazine looks so much better than my college one, because I have used a better camera and I have spent a longer period of time on it, adjusting to better software and understanding all the techniques etc.
                                                                                                           
                                                                         





















The layout of the college
magazine is simple and easy to understand but its got a lot of space around, however on the music magazine I have used up a lot of the space, and the layout looks better, and it it suits a pop genre magazine. The colours that have been used on the music magazine convey the idea of pop, and put together the magazine, however on the college magazine the colours are very light, the font is so light that its almost sheer and hard to read, and the background is empty and leaves the page with no structure. I have used boxes to highlight each section, and used two colours so it pops out more, however on the college one I didn't have the understanding to make the layout more presentable.

The text on the music magazine looks more complete than the college one, because I have used more than one colour, which makes it stand out rather than one colour which makes it look boring, On the college magazine it says 'content' which it shouldn't say, as instead of that I have wrote ' in this week' on the music magazine because it looks more relaxed, and gets the target audience.

I have used a selection of photographs on my music magazine, which I had taken myself with an SLR camera which is a very good camera, however on the college magazine contents page, I didn't take any photographs, they are all of the internet, which is another reason why my music magazine is better, because it is more real and original.

Here is my Target audience, I have drawn her to be the age of 15- 16 as my magazine is aimed at people up until 18. I have put on some bright colours, just to show that she's still got a feminine side to her although it isn't a dress, The peace jumper adds on that she is laid back and into the Pop music. I have added lipstick on her as my magazine also has information on makeup and this would apply to her and attract her to buy the magazine, Also she is would have a hobby, which would be shopping, and would shop at the local high street stores like, new look, forever21 and H&M. The type of music that she would like would be, one Direction, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Olly Murs ect she would be interested in celebrity gossip and TV shows like Hollyokes and also would watch you tube videos and beauty gurus.

The image of Alexandra Burke, on the top of the pops magazine, is the image that I have took inspiration from, when creating my Models pose. The similarities of both the images are, the lighting seems to be rather bright this reflects on the mood of the model and tells the audience that the model is confident and the hands on the hips, shows that they are strong and they are standing up for themselves, it comes across and shows that the model is independent. The angle that the image is took from is also very similar to the one with Alexandra, the shot type that both have used are a medium shot, that shows there facial expression and there body language and also shows how they also have power over themselves, the pose itself has a very strong character, and speaks aloud. I have kept my models outfit, through the same colour as Alexandra, but I have put on two piece instead of a dress, just to show that femininity can be reversed through looks, and also this shows my audience that, you don't have to change to show, your strength and the real you, the colour of the models outfit is like cream/light pinkish , this represents pure, still standing, feminine, innocent and calm, these representations, also reflect on the story of bullying, and how they both got through it. The style of the models hair are both similar colours, dark colored hair, and I have changed my models hair and added some waves, just to change it from Alexandra's hair, because my model is not wearing a feminine dress, I decided to make her hair something that shows the feminine side of her, the waves in her hair , represent calm and elegance, The jeans that my model is wearing have spikes on the side, which again reflect the fact that she isn't afraid of what people say anymore, and it resembles strength and not afraid to stand out and be different. The posture of Alexandra, her smile is more friendly, and it looks as though she is open, and will tell all in her story, however my model looks friendly but, it almost looks as though she is keeping herself closed, and doesn't want to tell her story, but she give tips, so shes there to help the audience, but is still hurt and it show that she is not ready to tell everyone everything, she just wants to help by giving tips that have helped her so far. Overall both the models, don't look intimidating, they look like they would like to help, compared to RnB the models on the magazines there, would not smile and be more serious with there face expressions, however we have my model being serious but she is being positive and not negative.

Overall to conclude, I have represented young people as free and strong through the image, as they are entitled to do what they like, and learn from there mistakes. Also I have represented girls just as strong as boys, how they act and show themselves in front of people  are not important, as the person you are on the inside. This is all that matters, this keeps them strong and standing.

Research and Planning Evaluation Question 1

Here is the magazine that I took inspiration from for my magazine. The part that I have took ideas from is the way in which the model is positioned, I think this was a strong look for a magazine cover, especially a pop magazine. The text in the middle of the cover, which says the models name, is what I have took an idea from and placed the name there, also the quotation marks, and the quote that the model has said, this is what I have copied.
Development- the part of my magazine that has started to look different is the masthead, the masthead on the top of the pops one is something that doesn't stand out when you look at it, where as on my magazine I have used two colours to symbolize the masthead, so that it stands out from all the other magazines around it, the vibrant colours used will emphasise my target audience towards the magazine. 
My magazine looks completely different, with the colours that I have used. The top of the pops magazine has used three colours and white and black for the texts also, where I have stuck to only two colours, But added black for my text on the quotations, and white for things to stand out
